Should You Get Free Or Paid Website Hosting?

Author: amind  //  Category: Latest Hosting Info

Simply put, if you have a website, then it’s hosted on a
server somewhere. The server is a component of the
webhosting provider that is set up by the webhost to store
and manage data and applications for a website.

There are 2 kinds of webhosts: free and paid. Both can be
found from website hosting directories. These are a helpful
source of information that list and compare features of both
free and paid hosting services. Paid hosting services tend
to feature more prominently on such sites. Users are
naturally more concerned about the service they receive if
they’re paying more for it.

Free webhosting solutions are just that, free. Or are they?
Free website hosting providers may not charge a single dime,
but you might find yourself paying in other ways. Bandwidth
availability is usually limited on free hosting sites. This
is not a problem if you have a simple website. Free hosting
sites may also place ads on web pages to offset hosting
costs, whether the webmaster wants it or not.

Maintenance service from a free host provider may also be
inconsistent, intermittent or even nonexistent. Conversely,
there is a tendency not to notify users when much needed
maintenance are carried out. This can result in much
annoyance and frustration for the users, but complaints are
often futile because, hey, they’re not paying for anything!

On the other hand, paying for website hosting services
allows a larger degree of freedom where website
personalization and data management are concerned. Bandwidth
availability is hardly an issue and the user can determine
the advertising to be published on the site, if at all.
There are a wide variety of hosting packages available with
extremely competitive prices. However, even paid hosting is
not immune to the hazard of poor maintenance and lack of
technical support, so it would be wise to compare user
experiences and testimonials before deciding on hosting
service.

A website is a great way to increase your presence on the
World Wide Web. Make sure to compare all aspects of a
webhost provider before settling on one host.

information on topics like website hosting and cheap
hosting . Visit for more information.

How Presence In The Cyberspace Can Help In Time Of

Author: amind  //  Category: Latest Hosting Info

Recession?

Though experts all over the world 24 hours a day and seven
days a week, through TVs, radios and Internet, are busy
offering tips on how to come out of the current global
economic turmoil, there are no signs that it is going to die
down in the near future. It is the first time in the
Internet age that a recession of this level has affected the
world.

But it is also true that the Internet has made the recession
more bearable with thousands of blogs showcasing job
opportunities, millions of online stores offering second
hand and cheaper goods and services and trillions of
websites and community forums airing and sharing views on
ways to face the current credit crisis.

Thus, in this scenario, having a web presence becomes all
the more important not only to keep yourself up-to-date on
the current issues, employment offers or better bargains but
also to present your views, skills, experience to the cyber
community and above all earn some extra cash.

Registering and becoming member of blogs, websites and
community forums is an efficient and cost-effective way to
make your presence felt, showcase your skills and air your
views. But if you include your own domain name, or web
address as it is generally called, at the end of your
profile, it not only adds weight to your personality but
also give chance to fellow web surfers or the prospective
employer to know more about you.

Your own website can also become a source of earning little
extra money if you put google ads and similar types of pay
per click programmes, for which you don

Unlimited Space Hosting

Author: amind  //  Category: Latest Hosting Info

The first thing to remember that price is not the only
factor to consider for web hosting. Cheap unlimited hosting
is great, but only if the quality of the service is in line
with what you require. Otherwise you have not saved a thing.
This does not mean you should go with the most expensive
service you can find either. It just means that you are
going to have to shop around and find the best deal when
searching for a hosting site.

To find cheap unlimited hosting, you need to define what
your needs are. What will be cheap for one user and provide
everything they need, will be inadequate for another and the
extras will drive the price way up. If you know what you
need then you can get a much better idea of the true price
you will be spending. So find sites that are similar to the
one you want to create and find out what their storage and
bandwidth requirements are. This will give you basic
parameters to consider as you shop.

Consider your level of experience and knowledge so you can
decide whether or not you need access to minimal or major
technical support. Some cheap unlimited hosting plans do not
include any kind of tech support or only very minimal
support, so you are basically on your own. If you do need
help, the tech support will be added to your charges and can
get quite expensive.

The same factors apply to the design of your website and
changes you want to make along the way. Many cheap unlimited
hosting sites offer web designers, but their fees can be
very high. Or they may limit the number of choices you have
for your site. Plus, once you have used them, it may be an
exclusive contract where you will have to pay them to make
any changes you want in the future. And this design work
will not be cheap. If you are paying too much for web design
then that cost will eat into the savings you got from the
cheap hosting.

Another thing to remember is that if your site is a success,
and that is the goal, then you will have a lot of traffic.
And that is a good thing; except that it means you will be
using up a lot of bandwidth. And some sites that are not in
the top 10 webhosting lists will charge a lot extra for
going over your bandwidth allotment for the term.

Having experience in the web hosting market for years and
just want to share some of my knowledge with someone that
wants to enjoy the full benefits of hosting a website.

Web Hosting – Important Factors in Choosing a Web Host

Author: amind  //  Category: Latest Hosting Info

Web Hosting – Important Factors in Choosing a Web Host

Web hosting, which is the business of providing the storage,
connectivity, and services necessary to serve files for a
web site, is an important part of operating an online
business.

Basically, this is a way of putting your company name on the
web. This will allow you to share information, sell products
and services, and interact with other people through your
site.

Whether it is for an online business or for other
applications, like an information resource, a discussion
forum, or simply just for sharing views on a hobby or
interest, you need to make the best decision when buying or
choosing the right web hosting service and solution.

This will not be easy, as trying to choose a web host can be
a very confusing exercise, especially since there is a
growing number of web hosts in the internet.

Make sure that you go through a research process in choosing
the most appropriate web hosting company for your internet
presence.

Here are a few things that you need to consider if you would
like to generate income for your website, through the use of
web hosting.

Determine the Kind of Web Hosting

The first impression of a visitor or a potential customer on
your web site is everything.

You need to make sure that you can keep your visitors on
your site by making your online business appear as
professional as possible.

Make them see a web site that they can trust.

There are many different kinds of web hosts out there, all
with varying qualities and equally numerous price points.

Some actually try to justify charging higher than average
prices, by offering a vast assortment of extra features,
most of which almost no one will use.

By knowing the services that you require, you can shop for
them by scrutinizing and reviewing the web hosts you come
across, finding the right web hosting provider for your
needs.

What to Consider When Choosing a Web Host

The quality of the web host can either make or break your
online business, so having reliable web hosting is paramount
to your success.

Downtime on your web site can lead to lost sales and
decreased productivity.

It is very important to get a good host with great support,
especially if you have urgent launches on your web site.

Also, look for unlimited features in all areas when signing
up on a plan with the web host service of your choice.

Some of the things that you need to look for are:

- Unlimited Emails

- Unlimited Add-on domains

- Unlimited Database

- Unlimited FTP accounts

- 30 day money back guarantee

- Diskspace (at least 10GB)

- Bandwidth (at least 100GB)

Another factor that matters in an online business is the
location of the server.

The lesser hops the server needs to make to reach your
computer, the better the web host is.

Less hops to your computer from the server means that the
server can connect to the user faster.

Having a larger disk space is also better, especially since
you can store more information online and share them with
your visitors.

Look for web hosts that will give you more disk space to
serve as your virtual drive on your web server.

Bandwidth, which is something that people confuse with disk
space, is also important.

It is basically the number of information that you can
download from your server.

The bigger your bandwidth, the more people can download the
information that you chose to share online.

Is Price a Factor?

Choosing the cheapest web host is not necessarily the best
choice for your business, neither is the most expensive,
because price offers no conclusive evidence on how well a
web host will perform.

It is natural for any business to want affordable web
hosting.

However, choosing when to spend on something is difficult to
determine, especially if the price is no indication of its
reliability.

Budget hosting solutions can be appropriate under certain
circumstances.

One of the circumstances is on testing.

Ecommerce Web Hosting: An Answer To All Web Hosting Needs

Author: amind  //  Category: Latest Hosting Info

Ecommerce web hosting is the hosting on the world wide web
of an e-commerce web application in which the web host
provider makes available all the tools necessary to handle
online sales. The tools that these web host providers make
available are shopping carts, Merchant Account services,
Secure Socket Layer, database support, secure transactions
as well as web promotion and advertisements. Ecommerce web
hosting can be thought of as being the answer to all the web
hosting needs for companies as well as individuals that wish
to conduct e-commerce business.

Think Before Selecting A Provider

Before selecting an Ecommerce web hosting provider one
should taking into a number of different issues such as
there being available 24 hour or round the clock support.
Many ecommerce web sites need to handle credit transactions
and, for this, one should ensure that the hosting server
does support Secure Socket Layer encryption. In addition,
the web host provider should have fast internet backbone and
ensures that the server is hosted on fast data center.

Also, the Ecommerce web hosting plan should contain daily
backup of the plan and there should also be at least two
unique IP addresses for the website. Because the user

Web Hosting for the Rest of Us

Author: amind  //  Category: Latest Hosting Info

A client of mine paid for a solo advert to promote his
website in the newsletter I publish at e-bizministry about
two months ago. As I was about to send his advert to my
list, he called me up on phone and told me not to send it
yet. Naturally, I asked him why. His reply shocked me out of
my wits.

He said he had just discovered that his website had
disappeared from the net. He even said the same thing had
happened to the same website earlier in the year when it
disappeared in January only to reappear for just one week in
May. I could not help but laugh because I knew his problem.
He had made a wrong choice of web host.

Your choice of web host can either promote your business or
ruin your business. You have to be very careful when
choosing your web host or you will be consistently losing up
to 80% of your income due to your web host’s inefficiency.

Here are a few quick tips on how to know which web host is
reliable, affordable and right for your website.

1. Check if the web host has a web presence. Face it, if a
company claims to be a web host and they don’t have a
functional website of their own, then they have no business
hosting other people’s websites. Any web host you will use
must have a functional website where you can check for
domain availability, get support and order for their hosting
services.

Additionally, you should conduct random checks on their
website. If you visit their site randomly ten times and the
site is not available more than once in those ten times,
forget about that company except you want your own website
too to be unavailable almost all the time.

2. Any web host you will use must have an appreciable level
of relevant experience. A minimum of a full year of
operation. A new web host will only experiment with your
website and the result may not be good for your business.
Visit the web host’s website and read about them. If they
don’t talk about their experience, then they don’t have it.
Just leave them alone.

3. Look out for their present clients’ testimonials on their
website. Call or email the clients and ask them questions.
If they confirm that the web host is good, then the company
has passed this test. However, if you don’t even find a
single testimonial on their website, they probably don’t
have any satisfied client. What to do? Just leave them
alone.

4. How fast or how well does the company respond to support
emails? You can find out by conducting this small test.
Visit the web host’s website and submit or email an enquiry
to them. If you don’t get a response in 24 – 48 hours,
please run away as fast as your legs can carry you. Why?
When you host your website with them and you have a problem,
it will take them more than a month to respond to your
support emails or requests.

5. You should not forget to check out their prices. The
prices must be within reasonable limits and their packages
must have the features you desire; adequate monthly
transfer, email addresses, MySQL databases, CGI bin, FTP
access, control panel etc. Very high prices don’t
necessarily translate into very good services. Don’t be
fooled by high prices. It’s a common trick, please don’t
fall for it.

6. It must be easy and secure to make payments to your web
host. It is not advisable to fill in your credit card
details when making your payment. You should rather use a
web host that accepts other forms of payment that do not
require you to fill in your credit card details e.g. paypal
and egold. If you are in a country where you don’t have easy
access to credit card facilities, it is even better to use a
web host that accepts payment in your local currency. This
will ensure that you won’t have any problems when you want
to renew your domain and your hosting accounts.

7. Use only web hosts that give 24 hour online access to
your account. With that, you have total control over your
domain and your website and you can change anything
including your name servers (DNS)whenever you want.

8. It is better to use a web host that offers additional web
services such as web design, website promotion, search
engine submission and website management. They can be of
help to you in future if you have any problems with your
website or you need any additional services.

9. Before you make your payment, read the terms and
conditions of the company carefully. If you don’t understand
or agree with any of their terms contact them for more
explanations.

10. Finally, I know it may be very time consuming for you to
conduct these tests on the hundreds of web hosts out there
before choosing one. I have therefore taken the pains to
analyse hundreds of them. I recommend ten web hosts that
have passed our simple tests. I can put my reputation on the
line and guarantee their efficiency, reliability and
affordability.

Finding the Right Domain Name for your Business

Author: amind  //  Category: Latest Hosting Info

A domain represents the unique name assigned to an
organization or individual on the Internet. For instance, we
are all familiar with names such as google.com,
microsoft.com, and so on. A particular name (domain) may
only be owned by one person or company. To use an analogy, a
domain represents your “street address” where you live on
the Internet. It uniquely identifies where you can be
found. Having a straight-forward, easy to remember domain
is crucial to your business success.

The domain name is comprised of several parts. The last part
of the domain (e.g., .com) is referred to as the top-level
domain (TLD). In theory, the TLD represents a type of
entity. For instance, .com stands for “commercial”. It was
originally meant to be for commercial enterprises
(business), but that has become something of a misnomer as
even people with personal websites use the .com TLD.

Other popular TLDs include:

> .net – originally meant to signify Network organizations
such as Internet Service Providers (ISP)

> .edu – Education establishments (colleges/universities)

> .mil – Military

> .org – Non-profit organizations

> .gov – Government organizations

> .biz – a business

> .name – individual/person

> .info – information service

There are others as well such as: .aero, .pro, .coop, and so
on. In addition, there are TLDs assigned to countries (e.g.,
.ca for Canada).

Before you can launch your site on the Web, you will need a
domain name. There are literally hundreds of millions of
domains already taken so you may have to be creative in
finding the name you want. It can be frustrating at times,
so brew yourself a pot of coffee or grab your favorite
beverage before you sit down to find that special domain
that will become your address on the Web.

Several months ago, I was attempting to acquire a domain for
a customer. I tried just about every combination of his
actual business name to find one that was available. As is
becoming much too common, I ran into a brick wall. Out of
sheer frustration, I just randomly pounded my fingers on my
keyboard and came up with sdfsdfsdf.com. I submitted that
to the domain search. You probably know the punch line. To
my total amazement that name was already taken. At that
point, I decided I needed to take a walk around my garden.

But there is no way around it. If you plan to put your own
site on the web, you will need to identify an available
domain. Once you do so, you should purchase that name
immediately as it may not be available the next day. If the
name you want is already taken, you will have to find a
different one. For instance, if you wanted the domain
CandlesForSale.com, that is already taken. However, the name
CandlesForSale.biz is available (as of the date this article
was written). You could select the .biz name, or try to find
an alternate such as Candles4sale.com, candles4u.com,
candlesonline.com, and so on. All of those of course, are
taken. By trying the different combinations you would find
that candles-forsale.com is (currently) available.

It is much easier to find available domains ending in .biz,.
info, and so on. The major problem with using any of these
is that people are just inherently conditioned to type in
the .com extension after the business name. If you did
register the candlesforsale.biz name mentioned above, it is
quite likely that people surfing the Web would type in
candlesforsale.com instead. That of course, would lead to a
competitor, which is not what you want to do.

Selecting just the right (available) domain name for your
business can be a frustrating process, but it is important
to get it right. Many people I have spoken to don

Multiple Domain Web Hosting

Author: amind  //  Category: Latest Hosting Info

Thanks to the low cost of domain names and hosting fees it
is possible to own several websites without breaking the
bank. There are several ways to manage multiple domains so
it is important to know what your options are and the
advantages and disadvantages of each method.

The most basic choice when administering multiple domains is
whether or not to do so with the same host. Most hosts offer
packages which can be set up to allow several sites on one
account, or allow individual sites to be operated under
separate accounts.

You may have an existing website and are happy with the
services your host provides. If you decide to start a new
website using the same host, you will have the reassurance
of dealing with a company you are familiar with and trust.
You may also get a discount for each additional account you
open with the same host. On the other hand, using a new host
for a second (or third or fourth) website can allow you to
compare the quality of hosting offered by different
companies. In addition, separate hosts will provide each of
your web sites with a different IP address.

Having different IP addresses can be an important factor if
you plan to link the sites together to aid in search engine
optimization. Incoming links are an important indicator of
the importance of a website, so a site with a lot of
incoming links can get a higher position in search engines
like Google. If all the links are coming from the same IP
address, however, their value may be discounted. Hosting
your various sites with different hosting companies
guarantees that each site has a different IP address.
Individual IP addresses, however, are available as an extra
from most web hosts. For a yearly fee each website can have
its own unique IP address. This can help with search engine
ranking and is also needed if you want to have a secure
connection (https) on your site.

If you decide to host all your sites with the same company,
there are three basic ways to go. Each site could have its
own account; you could sign up for a re-seller account; or
you could get a dedicated server account.

As a re-seller you are acting as an agent for the hosting
company. You are allocated a certain amount of disk space
and bandwidth and you are free to use them as you please.
There may be a limit to the number of websites you can host
with your re-seller account, but if there is space left over
after using this account for your own sites you could earn
some extra income by selling accounts to other people. The
advantage of a re-seller account is that all the technical
details are taken care of by the hosting company. Some will
even provide gateways for billing your customers.

A dedicated server account gives you control of all the
resources of an entire server. You are free to setup as many
websites as you wish and allocate disk space and bandwidth
as you see fit. The downside to this type of account is that
you are responsible for maintaining the server. This can
require a significant level of technical know-how so if you
don’t have that knowledge or don’t feel like learning about
it, dedicated servers are not for you. You can, of course,
go with a managed dedicated

How To Easily Set Up Your Website On DreamHost Web Hosting

Author: amind  //  Category: Latest Hosting Info

Do you want to set up a website for your online marketplace?
Does your group, or organization, want to have an online
presence? Many people today want to have a place online that
is all their own. Many companies are jumping online for
their virtual real estate. It is estimated that a new
website is created every second of the day. How are all
these websites being created? How do you go about setting up
a website? Here’s a quick tutorial of some things you should
do in setting up a website.

Choose A Good Web Host

There are thousands of web hosting companies online. Taking
the time necessary to choose the one that will fit your
needs is very important. For example, a company like
Dreamhost has several basic packages that contain everything
you need for starting your website quickly.

Choose Your Web Page Style

Here is the biggest choice you are going to have to make
concerning your website. There are two different ways you
can build your webpages. The first is though HTML. This is
the universal web language that you can use to create static
pages, a basic landing page, or a simple personal webpage.
This was the standard for years, but has been giving way to
CSS style pages.

This new style of creating webpages is mostly seen in a new
content management system called blogging. A blog is a
website that you can make changes to easily, is managed
through an online interface, and allows others to interact
with you and each other on your site. New websites are using
this type of web page for their sites now as it is much
easier to use. Companies like Dreamhost are helping with
this type of style by automating much of the process.

Install Web Pages

Now that you have your web host, and you know how you are
going to create your web pages, you must begin to install
them onto your host. There are two ways to accomplish this.
If you have chosen to use HTML style pages you will need an
FTP client to help you upload your pages onto the hosts
servers.

If, however, you have chosen to use a content management
system, much like Wordpress, you can easily install your
content management software with once click. The great thing
about hosting companies, much like Dreamhost, is that they
do all the hard work for you. You just click for
installation, follow a few instructions and it is done. You
can log into your administration panel and make changes, add
pages, or write posts. The only time you will want to FTP
anything into it is if you want to upload a custom theme.

Add Content

Your webpages are up and now it’s time to start adding
content to your pages. Search engines love all the new juicy
content, so keeping your site stocked with new content will
help your rankings and your marketing. If you opted for the
blogging type platform for your website then adding content
is very simple. If you chose to use HTML, most hosting
companies allow free FTP access to upload your new content.
